Here are a few ways YOU can lend a caring hand, help others grow and make a lasting impression on someone\u2019s life. All volunteers are provided with training, education and supervision. If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities or would like to customize your volunteer opportunity, please contact Volunteer Services Director Tina Kincaid at 540-332-8595 or tina.kincaid@dbhds.virginia.gov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Activities Partner<\/strong><br><strong>Activities:<\/strong>&nbsp;Assist with activities throughout the year such as playing basketball, checkers, tennis<br><strong>Availability:<\/strong>&nbsp;2-4 Hours\/Week, Weekday Evening, Weekend Anytime<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clothing Store Aid<\/strong><br><strong>Activities:<\/strong>&nbsp;Assist clients in clothing store, sort through donated items, and maintain clothing inventory.<br><strong>Availability:<\/strong>2-4 Hours\/Week, Weekday Anytime<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Community Companion<\/strong><br><strong>Activities:<\/strong>&nbsp;Become a friend to someone with mental illness \u2013 visit often, send birthday cards, play games and watch movies together, etc&#8230; Companions are matched with individuals of the same gender, often close in age, and with similar interest.<br><strong>Availability:<\/strong>1 Hour\/Week, Weekday Evening, Weekend Anytime<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Volunteer Services Council Member<\/strong><br><strong>Activities:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dbhds.virginia.gov\/facilities\/wsh\/volunteer-services-council\/\">Join the non-profit organization<\/a>\u00a0dedicated to enhancing the lives of the patients at Western State Hospital. Through fundraisers, donations, and volunteers, the Council supply services and items that the state cannot supply by law or by limitation of funds such as dances, parties, tickets to concerts or plays, and more!<br><strong>Availability:<\/strong>\u00a02-5 Hours\/Monthly, varies<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We would love for you to be part of the team at WSH.
