Volunteering at Eastern State Hospital will give you a true sense of self-worth while helping to make a difference in the lives of many people.&nbsp;<strong><em>T<\/em><\/strong>here are many volunteer positions at Eastern State Hospital, which provide volunteers with meaningful opportunities to participate in direct and indirect care. Volunteers are given the opportunity to volunteer according to their availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>V<\/em><\/strong>olunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to&nbsp;<strong><em>Direct Care positions&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>such as Chaplaincy Services, Therapeutic Pet Services, One-to-One Focused Friends, Group Therapy Assistant, Activity Assistant and more!&nbsp;<strong><em>&nbsp;Indirect Care positions include<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;Pharmacy Assistant, Medical Records, Volunteer Office Assistant and other indirect care positions.&nbsp;<strong><em>L<\/em><\/strong>ocal community and other area&nbsp;businesses, churches, schools, veterans, and other groups work diligently to help provide for the personal needs of the patients through monetary contributions, Holiday and other in-kind donations throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Volunteer Benefits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A<\/strong>s an active volunteer at Eastern State Hospital you will receive:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Initial and on-going training&#8211;Volunteer accidental insurance coverage&#8211;A flexible volunteer schedule.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteer recognition&#8211;Recognition events, gifts and door prizes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opportunity to work with and learn from professional staff and share your skills and talents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A meaningful and rewarding opportunity to help others in need while serving your Country and community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Volunteer Eligibility Requirements:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Step 1 A<\/em>ll persons who want to become a volunteer at Eastern State Hospital must do the following complete and submit an application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Step 2 O<\/em>nce the application has been received and reviewed the applicant will be contacted by the VolunteerServices Coordinator to schedule an Interview and to schedule an appointment to complete a criminal history and a finger printing application in addition to a drug screen. *<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Step 3 A<\/em>pplicants must also do the following: Participate in and complete volunteer orientation.Accept on-going training and supervision.Follow all rules and policies of Eastern State Hospital and the Volunteer Services&nbsp;&nbsp; Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>*Applicants must complete and pass all of the required pre- screening requirements<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Non Discriminatory policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>E<\/em><\/strong>astern State Hospital and the Volunteer Services Department does not discriminate because of race, creed, disability, age, gender, national origin, political affiliation, religious belief or sexual preference and complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>E<\/em><\/strong>astern State Hospital and the Volunteer Services Department welcome volunteers of all ages.
