About our Computers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Patients\u2019 Library at ESH has five computers for patron use.  Four of the five computers are connected to the Internet.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Available Programs:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On-Line People Access Catalog<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OPAC<\/strong> replaces the old card catalog. To start searching the  on-line public access catalog click the OPAC.lnk icon on the computer desktop.  You can search by keyword, title, author, subject, series, call number, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft Office<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can type a letter, create a spread sheet or design a presentation using the Microsoft Office programs.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internet Services<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using the big blue e icon<\/strong> on your desktop, you can access the (World Wide Web) Internet on the black computers.  The putty colored computer is used for e-mail only.   NOTE:  Most computer viruses are downloaded through e-mail.  In an effort to safeguard our computers from viruses, e-mail activity is prohibited on the black computers.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graphics<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On our graphics programs you can create stationary, greeting cards, posters, banners, calling cards, brochures, newsletters, etc. Graphic Programs at the Library include: The Print Shop, The Print Shop Ensemble, Hallmark Card Studio, Holiday Card Creator, and Microsoft Paint and Word  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tutorials<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let Mavis Beacon teach you the correct way to type or to improve your typing skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use the American Sign Language cd-rom to learn sign language. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learn Windows Basics, Word, Excel, and Power Point in the Library\u2019s Computer Class (Ask library staff about taking the 6-8 week course.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinical Reference Systems<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For basic information on some medications, physical and behavioral health, access the Clinical Reference System Advisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Online Tax Service<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prepare your annual 1040 and Virginia Taxes on-line at the Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
